The trip that was saved by the last day! We travelled North to climb, the winds were strong, the snow was thick and the scotch was heavy.

After arriving hopeful we were soon put in our place by storm Dennis, with storm force winds, white out snow dumps and high avalanche forecasts. This is Scottish winter climbing.

We were stopped two days in a row due to high winds and considerable avalanche forecasts. On the last day the weather turned and we pushed for the summit.

Scottish Winter Climbing

Route –  Twin Ribs. The small ribs of rock exposed on the East side of Fiacaill Coire an t’Sneachta; accessed by scrambling up the snowy scree slope. Scottish winter mixed grade II.
